Message from the SSA President:
THE 2020 ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE SUDANS STUDIES ASSOCIATION WILL NOT TAKE PLACE THIS YEAR DUE TO THE CONSEQUENCES OF THE COVID-19.
DETAILS WILL FOLLOW LATER AFTER SOME DELIBERATIONS BY THE SSA BOARD MEMBERS.
THANK YOU.
LAKO TONGUN
SSA PRESIDENT
APPEAL from Dr. Richard Lobban for the Sudans Studies Association
6 February 2020
Almost 40 years ago several of us formed the Sudan Studies Association to create a non-political, non-religious tax-exempt forum to discuss Sudanese culture, history, politics, languages and archaeology. Amazingly with all the turmoil and events in Sudan we have still survived and have had annual and international meetings over this long period. Given the current transition in Sudan we believe that the time to have this forum is ever more important. As a co-founder and first President I encourage you all to attend the next meeting of the SSA at Pitzer College, from 4-7 June 2020. Please plan to come and present papers and renew your expression of interest and concern for the Sudan and the SSA at this critical time. Check the website for detail https://www.sudansstudies.org/
